Rationale   

The rationale for the Portuguese activities are to:

1. use a content and language integrated approach combining ICT tools, such as e-mail, chat and discussion groups, with reading and writing skills;
   
   
2. work online; skim for information; scan for details in a story;
   
   
3. use the Internet for reading comprehension; information retrieval; reading stories online.
   
   
4. evaluate/analyse the structure/front page and rewrite a fable; develop an awareness of other children outside mainland Portugal who also use English and Portuguese.
   
   
5. explore the potentiality of 'the webquest' as a pedagogical tool that can be used conjunction with online resources
   
   
6. develop creative writing skills and online editing; create a blog
   
   
7. learn about different cultures through on-line reading; recognise different cultural points of view; stimulate critical appreciation of the world
   
   
8. become familiar with pictures by a variety of illustrators and use Power Point to produce a picture story.
   
   
9. explore the contents of a website for self-study; discover the potential of games on-line; search for information
