    The University of Ljubljana is an institution with a rich tradition. With more than 56,000 undergraduate and post-graduate students, it ranks among the biggest universities in the world. The University of Ljubljana was established in 1919 on the foundations of a long- established pedagogical tradition. It is known for the quality of its courses in the Humanities and the scientific/technological fields, as well as medicine, dentistry and veterinary science. The Faculty of Education has experience in initial and in-service training of teachers.
    A multimedia textbook for teaching the mother tongue, developed by the University of Ljubljana, was awarded prizes at the Bologna Children's Book Fair 2003 and at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2003.
