The University of Murcia is an institution committed to public service in the field of higher education. The first university in Murcia is believed to have been founded in the year 1272, in the time of Alfonso X "The Wise". The current University was founded in 1915. Since then, it has been a centre of excellence with a constant growth: in the last fifteen years the number of students has increased from 8,000 up to 30,000, a trend also reflected in the University's academic and research capacity. The University of Murcia offers a wide range of both undergraduate and postgraduate studies. The institution also provides the following activities: Extra-Curricular courses, Courses for Senior Citizens, Seminars and Congresses. The Faculty of Education offers Initial and in-service Training for teachers. It is very proud of its experience in multicultural education and networking.
